Focused on history and the natural sciences, this trail winds through the most beautiful inhabited ridge of Beskydy - Gruň. It is meant for hikers, cyclists, families with children and seniors – basically all residents of and visitors to Staré Hamry. It can also make an excellent school trip full of understanding and awareness. The trail begins at the monument to Maryčka Magdónová and ends at Bílý Kříž. It has fourteen stops and runs parallel with the green-marked hiking trail to Gruň, then continues along the yellow. At individual stops you will learn about the history of the village of Staré Hamry, the construction of Šance Dam, the miraculous healing springs, a local breed of rugged mountain sheep called Valaška, settlements that have disappeared, the history of the placename Bílý Kříž (White Cross), or you can walk along the pavement in your bare feet, where children once walked from nearby cottages to school.
